![]() The Center for Performance and Learning (CPL) within the Government Accountability Office (GAO) had a need to update several classroom courses on conducting audits, particularly those dealing with handling audit documentation. CPL also wanted to reduce the number of classroom trainers needed by moving to web-based training (WBT) whenever possible.
This project involved the conversion and updating of pre-existing courses as well as the creation of new materials. While GAO wanted to move in the direction of WBT, some of the existing classroom courses had been very well-received by learners and allowed for important group interactions and in-depth evaluation of the learners by the instructors. Thus PerformTech’s approach was to start by reviewing all current materials and any student evaluations of those materials that existed. As a result of this review, we recommended WBT modules for some content and classroom modules for others. Currently, we are in the process of developing the following WBT and classroom courses:
All WBT modules include graphics and text, and some include audio and self-assessed job scenarios. Classroom courses contain more in-depth job simulations and instructor assessments. All WBT modules are both SCORM and 508 compliant, and will be deployed on the Pathlore LCMS.
