Center on Congress
Notable Members of Congress
Client Need:
The mission of the Center on Congress developed out of former Congressman Lee Hamilton's recognition during his 34 years in the House of Representatives of the need to improve broad public understanding of Congress -- its role in our large and remarkably diverse country, its strengths and its weaknesses, and its daily impact on the lives of ordinary people. The central goal of the Center is to improve public understanding of Congress in a strictly non-partisan way. Their goal is purely educational-- to explain the work and role of Congress. The Center’s unique niche is in trying to explain Congress to the average citizen.
PerformTech Solution:
The Center on Congress contracted with PerformTech to design and develop a suite of e-learning modules aimed at teaching high-school and college students about how Congress works. PerformTech was chosen because of our track record in producing highly engaging and instructionally sound on-line learning systems. The primary goals of the Center's e-learning program are to bring the subject matter to life and to get students involved in the material.
One of the five modules developed by PerformTech addressed Notable Members of Congress. In this module students are introduced to Members of Congress who have made significant contributions to the quality of life in America. Through the use of educational games, collaborative goal-oriented activities, and multimedia-based in-class activities, PerformTech developed materials that makes civics interesting and relevant for students.
